Clients, matters, trust balances, time entries, AR outstanding, billing rates, conflict database — all of it migrates. Free on every plan. No data loss. No IT required.
Select your current software to see exactly what comes across — and the two or three things that need a manual step.
Select your source software for the specific steps.
In PCLaw, go to File → Backup. Select a location and create the backup. This is a standard PCLaw function you may have done before for IT purposes — nothing unusual.
Sign into your JuriOS trial account and go to Settings → Migration. Drag your backup file into the portal. Our system reads the PCLaw backup format directly.
Before anything is imported, we show you a complete summary: number of clients, matters, time entries, trust balances, and AR found in your backup. Review it and confirm everything looks right.
Click Confirm Migration. The import runs in the background — typically 5–15 minutes depending on data volume. You'll receive an email when it's complete.
We provide a migration verification checklist: check a trust account balance, find a specific matter, confirm your billing rates. Takes about 10 minutes. If anything doesn't match, we fix it immediately.
In Clio, go to Settings → Data Export. Select all data types: Matters, Contacts, Time Entries, Bills. Clio will email you a download link within minutes.
Sign into your JuriOS trial and go to Settings → Migration. Select "Migrating from Clio" and upload your export files. Our system processes the Clio CSV format automatically.
We show you a complete count of what was found: clients, matters, time entries, invoices. Verify the numbers match what you see in Clio before confirming.
Confirm the migration and the import runs. When complete, use our verification checklist to spot-check a few matters and client records. Most Clio migrations are complete and verified in under an hour total.
We read your backup or export file — we never connect to your live PCLaw installation or Clio account. Your original data stays exactly where it is throughout the entire process.
Your backup file is encrypted with TLS 1.3 during upload and AES-256 at rest. The same standard used by Canadian banks.
We validate every record before writing anything to your account. If validation fails, the import stops and nothing is partially committed.
If you find an issue after migration, we can roll back your JuriOS account to a clean state and re-run the import. No data is permanently committed for 48 hours.
Your backup file is processed and stored in Canadian data centres only. It never passes through US infrastructure. PIPEDA compliant throughout.
We'd rather tell you upfront than have you discover it mid-migration. These aren't surprises — they're structural limitations of how the source software stores data.
PCLaw and Clio store documents in proprietary storage. The metadata migrates automatically but the actual files need to be re-uploaded. This is the most time-consuming manual step for document-heavy firms.
We provide a bulk upload tool that processes entire folder structures. Most firms complete document migration in 1–3 hours. Growth plan includes a dedicated call to walk through this.
Custom report layouts in PCLaw or Clio don't transfer because JuriOS uses a different reporting engine. Your underlying data migrates perfectly — just not the report formatting.
JuriOS's built-in reports cover trust reconciliation, AR aging, WIP, realization rates, and Law Society submissions. Most firms find they don't need their custom templates. We help you map your needs.
Any integrations connected in Clio need to be reconnected in JuriOS settings. The data migrates; the connections don't.
Reconnecting integrations takes 2–5 minutes each. JuriOS has built-in equivalents for many Clio integrations so you may need fewer third-party connections than before.
Realistic timeline for a solo or small firm. Larger firms may take a day longer — we tell you upfront.
Create your JuriOS account. No credit card needed. The migration portal is in Settings → Migration.
~5 minutesCreate your backup in PCLaw or run a data export in Clio. Upload to the migration portal. Review the preview summary. Confirm and run the import.
~30 minutes totalSpot-check key matters, trust balances, and billing rates. Takes 10–15 minutes and gives you confidence before going live.
~15 minutes30–45 minute call walking your staff through core workflows. Optional — most firms skip this and figure it out on their own.
~45 minutes · optionalMost firms are fully operational the same afternoon as migration. Log your first time entry, send your first invoice, process your first trust receipt.
You're liveI kept my PCLaw licence active for two weeks after migration — just in case. I never opened it. Every matter was there, every trust balance was right, every time entry going back to 2006 was in the system. The migration portal showed me exactly what was coming across before I confirmed. That preview step was what made me trust it.
The trust accounting import was what I was most worried about. We have two separate trust accounts and years of transaction history. Everything came across correctly. I checked three balances against our bank statements. All three matched to the cent. I went live the same afternoon.
Most firms migrate themselves in under an hour. If you'd rather have someone walk you through it, book a 30-minute migration call — free on every plan.
